This is a place where I can vent about certain frustrations. And occasionally, there may be a happy story. B/c life IS good.

Bad Timing

Last week we had our 20 week ultrasound, which was the greatest thing ever. I had to work that day, and when I got home, saw my dad had called. We had dinner, and were getting ready to go to the appointment, and the phone rang again. It was dad. I let the machine get it, and said I'd call him after the appointment, since he had called twice that day. When I call him to tell him about the wonderful things we saw, he tells me he has bad news. Not what I wanted to hear. It seems that he is currently in a fight with my aunt and uncle, with whom he has always been very close. Well, what shitty timing, you know? I don't need this right now. My dad and both his siblings all live in the same town, four hours away, and my aunt usually has all of us cousins up for a weekend to hang out and have fun. All I want to do before the baby is born is go up to visit everyone and have a great time. I am finally pregnant, and it's the happiest time in my life so far. I don't want there to be feuding! I just hope they work this out before too much time passes.

By the way, the next day, Dan had an argument with his brother, and they haven't spoken since. So he didn't even get to tell him about our ultrasound. This is an ongoing issue of him just not liking me, I believe. No matter what they fight about, that's the cause of it all. Are we just not allowed to be happy? I just have to remember that it's not about everyone else. We are having a baby, and that's the most important thing in the world to us. We don't like to fight with people, so I'm just not going to do it. So there!

Hatboro Sunoco Sucks

My friend and I had her son out on a beautiful day last week in our hometown around lunchtime. We stopped at a small store, and then I hopped over to the local gas station to use the restroom. I checked the door, and it was locked. As I walked in to see the attendant, he said to me, "You're going to ask me for the key to the bathroom, and I'm supposed to tell you that we don't have a public restroom." Well, I know they HAVE one, I just tried to open the door. I just looked at him and said, "What if I told you I'm pregnant?" He was like, "What if I told you my boss would literally fire me if I let you use it?" I couldn't believe it! Toothless ass! I just looked at him and walked out, as I heard him yell an apology after me. So, I had to run across the street, and duck into the bar, trying not to go on the way. On my way back out, I was so temped to give him the finger as I walked by the gas station! I should have threatened to go right there on his floor, so he could clean it up, but I didn't want to get messy! LOL!

Our Day at the Shore

So, the trip down the shore last weekend was fun. This was our first time with listings and a fist full of keys, and I didn't quite remember my way around the town. I hadn't been there in a few years. So, at the first place we go to, on the third floor of the building, with no elevator, we couldn't get in, b/c the key didn't work. Well, we went down to the street, looked across it, and realised we were at the wrong building. They have the same address number, but different street names. So, we eventually went back. But we went up and down so many stairs, I was starting to get shaky legs! It didn't help that I was ready for lunch.

We were told by the realtor that the owners were most likely NOT in the units, but just in case they were, we should give a little knock before we let ourselves in. Well, at the one place, as Dan was getting ready to go inside, he noticed a Gatorade and a jacket in the kitchen. Nobody answered when we knocked, so I told him to open the door. As we were walking in, we saw that the bathroom light was on, and then Dan turned around and whispered to me that he saw a purse, and for us to get out. I didn't know if he had said 'purse' or 'person,' but we just got out of there really fast. It was silly, too, b/c the owners want to make money, and the way most people rent a place is by seeing it first, so they shouldn't have minded that we were there, but we felt weird, so we left.

I was trying to keep all of the listing straight, but I shouldn't have been in charge of this, b/c I was forgetting where we had gone, and why we didn't like the unit, blah blah blah. I started making notes after a couple of places, and that helped. But it was like we were a couple of idiots! We finally went to this one unit, in a building we had already gone to, and right away we knew this was the one. The buildings between us and the beach only blocked the view of the beach slightly. And it was just a nice set up, in a quiet corner of the building. Really bright. Of course, I should have seen the listing in the first place, since it was the first building we had gone to! We then noticed that there was one more unit available in this building, one floor below, and one unit over, which may have given us an even better view of the beach. We went down there just in case, but the deadbolt was locked, and we didn't have that key! So, there I am, trying to peer through the tiny hole in the blinds on the door, and could only see a tiny bit of the furniture, which didn't look as nice as the other place. So, we asked the realtor back at the office if she could show us the online pictures. The listing had said it had two bedrooms, one with a queen sized bed, and one with two twins. Well, the pictures online only showed two rooms with two twins. How silly! It also was not a non-smoking unit, which I wouldn't enjoy. So, we got the right unit, I think.

All in all it was a productive day. Dan likes the area, which is good. We'll have plenty of things to do and places to go. And I just found out that my friends will be a couple of miles down the road the same time we're there, so that will be nice! Can't wait for June!

Vacation

So, we have been thinking about when to go away on a vacation this year. I think going before I am too big and uncomfortable is the best thing, and we want to go down the shore. This is our favorite destination, other than Punta Cana, of course! Since my parents' shore house will no longer be available, I have been looking online for a place to rent for the week on the Jersey shore. Last week, I found a few places that look good. The next day or so, when talking to my mom, she asked me what our plans were for vacation this year. I said, "Funny you should ask that," and told her about my recent searching. She told me that she and my step-father decided that we need to go down the shore for a week before the baby gets here, and they're going to see to it finantially. Funny, huh? I'm not arguing with them!

So, we're no longer worrying about cashing in bonds to go on vacation, which is cool. We are heading to Sea Isle City on Sunday to check things out, and hopefully find a place. Dan has never been there, and it's conveniently located inbetween Wildwood and Ocean City, two places we both like (we like walking the boards). And it's not too far from Atlantic City as well. Dan has never been there, either, and I've only been there a couple of times. I just can't wait to hit the road on Sunday- it should be fun!
